Become a Christian
How do I become a Christian?
There is no such thing as a person who
has "always been a Christian." That statement goes against many churches believe
today. As a church, we believe that one must make a choice to become a
Christian. Jesus has called us to obey his words. We cannot go to heaven unless
we do what the Bible says:
FOUR SIMPLE STEPS
TO SALVATION
STEP ONE: YOU MUST
ACCEPT THAT YOU ARE A SINNER
It doesn't matter how good of a person
you feel that you've been. The Word of God tells us that we have all been guilty
of sin.
For all have
sinned; and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
STEP TWO: YOU MUST
ACCEPT THAT AS A SINNER, YOU OWE A PENALTY
We must all pay the price for the sins
that we've committed. One sin will keep us from Heaven. A holy, righteous God
does not accept sin. Because of our sin, we will be separated from God with an
eternal death sentence in Hell.
For the
wages of sin is death...(Romans 6:23)
STEP THREE: YOU MUST
ACCEPT THAT JESUS CHRIST HAS ALREADY PAID FOR YOUR SIN
The Bible teaches that there must be a
sacrifice for sin. Jesus Christ took that sacrifice upon Himself. He lived a
perfect, sinless life on earth; and then He took the sin of the world upon
Himself. He did this for all of the sins of the past, the present, and the
future. And He did this for EVERYONE.
For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
For when we
were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6)
STEP FOUR: YOU MUST
ACCEPT BY FAITH WHAT JESUS CHRIST DID FOR YOU
The only thing that you owe someone who
gives you a gift is to accept it. Jesus already paid your way into heaven. He's
bridged the gap between you and God. The Bible teaches that He is the only way
to eternal life. Accept His sacrifice.
He that
believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not on the
Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)
If you would like to trust in Jesus Christ as your savior,
simply pray this prayer. It doesn't have to be word for word, but as long as you
believe in your heart, Jesus will save you.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I'm a
sinner, and I deserve to pay my own sin debt, but I do believe that you died
for me to pay the debt I owe. Today, the best I know how, I trust You as my
Savior. I will depend on You from this moment on for my salvation. Now help me
to love for You and to be a good Christian.
Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, then we recommend that you do the
following things:
-
Get involved with a
church that teaches the Word of God and the message of Jesus Christ regarding
salvation.
-
Get
plugged in to a Bible study where you can learn more about who God is.
-
Pray that God will
give you guidance and wisdom as to how to live your new life as a Christian.
-
Talk to a pastor or someone who can help you find the right answers.
